August 15th - New tree!
I was at Home Depot today and they had a sale on a couple 3-4' tall Japanese Maples. They had 4 or 5 Tamukeyamas and one Bloodgood. I have been looking for a Bloodgood to plant this fall, but the one on sale was really small and a little scruffy-looking, so I skipped it and will wait to get a better-sized and healthier specimen closer to the time I will actually be putting it in the ground. But the Tamukeyamas- at least 2 or 3 looked healthy and fairly attractive- and they were $39.99!! You REALLY can't beat that- or even come close! So even though I don't know exactly where I was going to put it, I picked one up...New Tree!
Where the new tree is going to go once it gets cool enough that I can plant it without killing it- mid-September maybe? Back is killing me- shouldn't have spent so much time on it with the ground so hard, but I actually wanted to get something garden-ish done today...
