Thoughts for the spring

Right now the front 'landscaping' has 3 small dwarf Alberta spruces, 2 on the corners of the garage and one at the far corner of the house. I also have a rheingold arborvitae near the corner of the front steps and a threadleaf false cypress in the area around the lamp post.
I would like to do some more work in the front this spring and summer, and I have a plan drawn up..

I would like to use rough stone to build a curved semi-raised portion of the main bed in front of the living room- about 8-12 inches high. Then I would like to plant a weeping Japanese maple at the top of the raised area- probably a viridis since that seems to be the only dwarf weeping cultivar that is hardy in our area and can tolerate afternoon sun. I have already built up the bed with the dirt we got from our friends last fall and the leftover mulch from my fall shipment- I just need the stone and the tree for this part.
I would like to extend the bed in front of the lamppost and put a small branchy tree with small leaves there- I found a tree version of a fernleaf buckthorn at the nursery last fall that I think will work very well here (providing I can find it again!). I also want to extend the bed along the front of the sidewalk and put a dwarf blue spruce there (this will provide shade for the area in front of the study which I have some additional plans for down the line. I may also put in another 2 dwarf blue spruces on the far side of the setup if I have time and spare money (and my back hasn't given out by then).

I have done a rough mock-up of this to give the idea of what I have in mind:

We are also hoping to get a small shed for the back if we have the time and money..
