And finally..
..the crown jewel of the plantings for this year- a 7-8 ft tall Seriyu Japanese Maple. I will try to get it in the ground by next weekend- and fingers crossed that it lives for us. Burlapped plants always make me nervous- especially BIG ones! And no, it will not be staying where the picture was taken! :) I tucked it close to the house so it hopefully won't get blown over with the winds we have been having the last couple weeks..Friday, May 07, 2010
Four down..
Worked hard this afternoon and got 4 of 6 in the ground. They look a little silly cuz I don't have 'real' mulch so I had to mulch them temporarily with the wood-carving shavings that I saved over the last couple years. Once the real mulch gets delivered they won't look as polka-dot-y.The last two plants I had to wait on- the rheingold I don't have the bed built for yet, and the clematis I need to get a mini trellis for so it can climb the lamp post- it is only knee-high right now and I think it will need some help since it is about 4-5 feet of smooth post before it can get a grip on the crossbar..
More new plants!
I stopped at the Strongsville Pettiti's after my doctor appointment and ended up picking up three more plants:-Pot of reed grass for the corner of the patio. This should grow to 2-4 ft high.
-Japanese dwarf garden juniper- ground-cover-y juniper for the front of the back bed in front of the lilac and the future Seiryu Japanese maple.
-Viennetta clematis to climb up the lamppost in the front
Now I am up to 6 plants that I need to get in the ground. Hopefully I will get a couple things planted this afternoon and I can get some pics up...
